To the editor who told me, before he re-wrote my copy: ‘Thanks Peter, I can make the changes myself’….

I’d like to point out the distinction between an editorial writer and a copywriter. An editorial writer is the person who delivers an article to the editor, who determines if the content appeals to the readers. Assuming they edit it and get it right, the readers will return.A copywriter, on the other hand, creates words to promote, persuade and sell. He or she is a salesperson who sells through sales letters and advertisements. These are two very different crafts.
